Dog By-Laws & Community Safety
Hey pet owners and members of the community,
The love and friendship our furry friends bring to our lives is irreplaceable. But we must remember that as pet owners, it’s our job to train our dogs and keep them safe.
Our children’s safety becomes reality by keeping our pets safe.
That’s why Council wants to remind everyone the importance of the Dog By-Laws passed on August 9, 2016. Council passed these by-laws to establish safety measures that protect our community.
There is a growing concern of dogs roaming free. There have been reports of dogs biting kids at school! That’s very concerning, which is why we will enforce this By-Law.
Keep our kids and walking community members’ safe by:
- Making sure your dog is properly leashed or contained at all times.
- Keep dogs on a leash, or in a secure and enclosed area.
- A dog catcher will be making their rounds and taking any dogs found to be roaming free to the nearest pound.
- Owners are responsible for any charges incurred for the impoundment of their dog.
We ask for your cooperation and understanding in ensuring compliance with these dog by-laws. Check out the by-laws attached to this notice.
We’re always available to answer any questions or concerns you may have.
